PMLC Project Closure

Project Closure is the final stage of the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC). In this stage, the project team completes all activities required to formally close the project.

Here are some of the key activities that take place during project closure:
  1. Obtain Acceptance of Project Deliverables: The project team obtains formal acceptance of all project deliverables from the stakeholders. This includes ensuring that all deliverables have been completed and meet the required quality standards.
  2. Close Project Contracts: The project team closes all contracts related to the project, including any contracts with vendors, suppliers, or contractors.
  3. Hand Over Project Deliverables: The project team hands over all project deliverables to the appropriate stakeholders. This includes providing any necessary documentation, training, or support.
  4. Close Project Resources: The project team releases all project resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities. This involves ensuring that all resources are returned to their owners or reassigned to other projects.
  5. Document Project Performance: The project team documents the project’s performance, including any lessons learned, best practices, and areas for improvement. This information is used to inform future projects and improve project management practices.
  6. Conduct Project Review: The project team conducts a review of the project to evaluate its success and identify any areas for improvement. This includes assessing project performance against the project plan, and identifying any deviations or issues that arose during the project.
  7. Close Project: The project team formally closes the project by obtaining final approval from the stakeholders, completing all necessary documentation, and archiving project records.

Overall, project closure is a critical stage of the PMLC. It ensures that the project is formally closed and that all project deliverables have been completed and handed over to the appropriate stakeholders. By completing the activities in project closure, the project team can ensure that the project is completed successfully and that project outcomes are achieved.
